What is an Opportunist?

What is An Opportunist?

What is an Opportunist?

I absolutely love this quote! Why? because it embodies the spirit of the Opportunist!

How many times in our life have we had the opportunity to seize the moment, and devour that glass of water, while everyone else was looking the other way or otherwise not paying attention!

This is exactly how you need to think to move your business forward, and reach your goals!

What is an Opportunist by definition?

According to an Opportunist is:

[op-er-too-nist, -tyoo-] Show IPA

a person who practices opportunism,  or the policy of adapting actions, decisions, etc., to effectiveness regardless of the sacrifice of ethical principles: He is an extreme opportunist and always thinks the ends justify the means.

How can being an Opportunist help me in my life?

When you are an Opportunist you take advantage of the moment! The definition has a bit of a negative connotation to it, however, I prefer to think of opportunism, a your moment to make the right decision, and make a change for the better. As a business person you have the option to completely change your results by taking advantage of one moment, one small moment of decision has the power to be the ah ha moment!

So if you want to be an opportunist you need to know what moments to seize!

An opportunist seizes moments that will impact them for greatness! Since you are already in a business of some sort, looking to reach your financial goals, helping others along the way, it is vital to find those small moments and take advantage. I cannot tell you what that moment will be, but I do want to hear if you have ever felt the feeling of seizing the moment, and making the most of your opportunity. How did that feel? What was that moment?

Please share in the comments below!

The Pyramid of Success

The Pyramid of Success

The Pyramid of Success, is quite simply the building blocks you need to ensure are part of your plan to reach your goals and achieve the success in  life that you are looking for.

Using the Pyramid of Success to create your goals:

When you are sitting down to write your goals consider the elements in the pyramid of success, and how you can create your goals based on these principles. Let’s look at each of the elements on their own, and consider their importance.

Hard Work

Hard work is part of any goal you set out to achieve, for without hard work you will not achieve your goals.

Friendship means you need to reach out to others and be a friend, after-all life is more fun if you have a friend to share it with.

When making your goals it is important to be loyal to yourself! Often we are willing to give up on ourselves, and that is counterproductive to reaching your goals, so make sure you remain loyal to yourself.

When you make your goals it will be easier to achieve them if you work on them in collaboration with others, whether its a weight loss goal, and you need the co-operation of your family to keep only healthy foods in the house, or its a raise in your business, and you need to help others achieve their goals so you can achieve yours.

You must be excited, enthusiastic and driven by your goals! Make them important, and reachable!

In order to achieve your goals you will require a lot of self control! Afterall the goal you are making is for your benefit, so you need to maintain self control to bask in the glory of reaching the top of the Pyramid of Success, and reaching your goals!

In the Pyramid of Success it states: Alertness is what you learn after you know it all that counts! So many times in our life we feel like we can’t possibly get better at x, or know more about B, but the truth is as humans we are always in a state of learning, and there is always room for improvement no matter what the topic!

Since we are implementing the Pyramid of Success into goals, it is vital that we take action, and make those goals a reality! Without action there is no change!

Anytime we make a goal there always seems to be a force, that if you let it, can destroy you, take away your power, and change your ability to reach your goals, because you can lose your determination and drive! Do not let this happen to you! Remain on course, determined to reach your goals no matter what it takes, then and only then will you feel empowered, and confident!

This relates more to an overall sense of well being, which in turn will help you achieve your goals, because if you are healthy, and feel fit, you feel like you can take on the world, and you will achieve your goals almost effortlessly!

As with anything in life you will need to get better, acquire new skills to reach your goals, and to achieve the ultimate success! It is important to remember that you can learn any new skill you want, you just have to have the determination, the drive, and the desire to get it done!

Team Spirit

Very few people in this world stand at the top of a pyramid of success and have no-one to thank for helping them reach their goals! Remember to serve others along the way, and help them grow. You will be a better person for it, and they will be blessed for having encountered you!

It is important to remember when setting goals that you need to be yourself. Be who you really are! Not someones adaption of who you want to be! You can be anything you want to be, but be yourself, people will gravitate to you much more when you are being you! Remember there is only one YOU in all the world! So be the best YOU, You can be!

You have to believe in yourself! You can reach your goals! You have to know that you can, others will believe you can as well! There is a famous quote I am sure you have heard before, but really think about this… whether you believe you can, or believe you cannot, you are right!  You have to believe you CAN!! Because yes you can!

Personal Best

To achieve the very top stone of the Pyramid of Success you have to give it your personal best! If you have given all you can to reaching your goals, you will achieve them, and you will smile knowing there is nothing more you could of done to change the outcome!

I hope you enjoy creating some new goals, armed with some thought provoking new ideas from the Pyramid of Success! I wish you all the best!

Checking Out Sheraton Desert Oasis – Phoenix, Arizona

I am so excited to be going to Phoenix, AZ for the first time! We have decided to check out the Sheraton Desert Oasis. We are staying in a one bedroom villa! We will be taking video and lots of photos to share with you!

We have found that we can stay in this hotel for $799 or LESS for an entire week per ROOM, not per person!! Click here to find out how you can too!

The secret to saving 80-90% off Expedia’s best rate has been a huge benefit for us! I love to vacation probably more than anything else in the world. I love to save money on my vacations. Being in Canada I really like to escape winter! Our winters are cold, and long!

I have never been to Phoenix, I am looking forward to exploring all that Phoenix and the area, and all it has to offer. The Sheraton Desert Oasis offers a lush tropical location, a gorgeous looking pool, and awesome villas!

This pool looks so nice and inviting! I hope it is heated, and not cold!

I will post a picture of us hanging out in this pool.

UPDATE: We went and LOVED the Sheraton Desert Oasis! The room was fantastic! The pool was heated (however the outside temperature was about 115F the week we were there!)

The resort is exactly that, a resort! Tons of free parking on site, and lots of sun chairs to be had. We had a really great time, and we will definitely go back! $799 for a week is a steal!! Click here to see how you can take many vacations like this with your family!

Here are some of our picture from the beautiful grounds and our room!

Until next time, have fun and enjoy your vacations!

What is an Alexa Ranking?

What is an Alexa Ranking?

What is an Alexa Ranking, and why as a business should you care?   Alexa is a website that offers complete traffic and statistical website data for any website on the internet. defines themselves as “the web information company,” but to webmasters and bloggers, they are so much more. Essentially, Alexa is a company that measures web traffic on almost every website on the internet through their increasingly popular toolbar plugin. This becomes an important element in leveraging your blog’s ranking as a sell point to advertisers, sponsors, buyers, readers and whoever else wants a piece of your material.

Why is this important? Alexa rankings can make or break your business.

Before you freak out, let me explain how this plays out. Essentially, the way is measuring your website’s traffic is one of the most unfair surveys around. Why? Well they only record hits on your blog if it passes through their systems… meaning that your visitors need either the toolbar installed or you need to have a widget displayed on your website.

Advantage internet/technology bloggers. As a whole, the tech readership crew is much more likely to have an Alexa toolbar installed than your typical user. What this means for non-tech focused websites is that they are going to be seen as having less traffic than others.

So I have less traffic according to some company… who cares!?

You need to start caring about your ranking if you aren’t already. It seems Alexa has a monopoly over the sector. As advertisers move away from the unreliable “Google Pagerank” service, Alexa Ranking is the next logical sell point to move towards (and eventually destroy ).

Your Alexa ranking is used as a big factor in valuing the advertising space on your website by, I would say, about 85% of advertisers. A higher positioning means more money in your pocket. Alexa rankings are being used increasingly to leverage blogs, despite the fact that the numbers can be horrendously manipulated. More high paying reviews, better advertising offers, more press coverage, it is a must have.

What can you do to improve your Alexa ranking?

So you have a less-than-stellar rating, don’t worry… you can improve and manipulate this pretty easily. Here are the top three things you should be doing, anything else is water under the bridge… so when you read a post “the top x ways to improve your Alexa ranking,” they are making most of it up out of thin air.

  1. Place an widget/plugin or chart on your website
  2. Install the Alexa toolbar on your own computer and encourage your readers to do the same on their computers
  3. Write popular content that adds value to your readers and get SEO optimized for traffic

Pretty self-explanatory, throw an Alexa widget up on your website. Why? This logs your visitors even if they don’t have a toolbar. Essentially, this can make up for visitors not having toolbars of their own (though not entirely). I have heard reports of HUGE gains after installing an Alexa chart or widget. They offer them to you on the website for free, so you should be taking advantage of their offer.

Other than that, you need to have the traffic to push your ranking up, so keep writing interesting content that is dense with information so you get the search engine positioning and page views that you need. Your ranking is based on your last three months of traffic average traffic. I am increasing my Alexa rank every day.  This will take some time, because I add new content to my site at least weekly, if not several times a week! The more you valuable content you add the better. It is vital that you master the art of posting on purpose. ranking is important, so you definitely shouldn’t underestimate its influence on your earnings. Don’t get freaked out if your rating isn’t so hot, because there is more to life on the web than statistics alone. But if you simply don’t care, you need to start caring because you are missing out on potential income by having a poor rank.

How To Be The Leader, You Would Want To Follow.

How To Be The Leader, You Would Want To Follow!

Everyone seems to be looking for the leader, in life everyone seems to follow a leader whether good or bad, so I want to help you with some tips to help you be the leader that others will want to follow, and help you be effective.

The Top 5 Ways to Become a Leader that others will want to follow:

Tip #1 – Know your stuff!

When you enrolled with your company there is no doubt you were excited… the world of network marketing is very exciting. You also took on the responsibility to learn! Why? Any great leader knows their stuff!  Think about great leaders in your life what is the number one reason others are attracted to them? They are knowledgeable!  So even from the very moment you begin your business you owe it to yourself, and your future team, to learn, learn, learn. If you have been in Network marketing for a while, and you have not opted to step up and learn, now is the time. Stop whatever you are doing, and educate yourself… if you have no up-line support reach out to someone else in your business, or consider joining a non-company specific training that will train you in network marketing, mastering the invite, conquering the close, and more.

Tip # 2 – Share You Stuff

As you learn even just one simple idea, you need to implement it, and share with others. Why? Because sharing helps you learn that much more, and it reinforces what you already know. Recently in a Facebook group I am an active member of, I took initiative to help others, and sometimes I only knew part of the answer, but working through the problem with another person, helped them to learn what I knew, and I researched what I didn’t already know so we could solve the problem together, this accomplished two things. First, it showed my colleague that I am a leader, and second, I learned and grew by offering the help.  As you share what you have learned you will attract the attention of your upline, sideline, future downline, and others in your sphere of influence. This will attract people to you, and they will want to work with you because you helped them, or provided them value. It is vital as a leader you get out of the WIIFM – Whats In It For Me, and get into the WIIFY – Whats In It For YOU! (meaning the person you are helping or sharing information with).

Tip # 3 – Develop Leaders

Recently while reading Success Magazine I came across an exerpt by John C. Maxwell that talked about how to do better in your business. He said, “One of the best things you can do …is to make yourself dispensable. Most Leaders don’t do that. They like the feeling of being needed.”  Have you ever heard the bible story about teaching a man to fish? The same applies to your business. If you teach others to be leaders, your organization will grow, and you will have an entire team of leaders to work with rather than simply followers. Imagine how much more your business would flourish if you had leaders working in the field with you, rather than followers alone.  As soon as you have a new team member join with you, it is your responsibility to point them in the direction of learning. Help them learn the presentation, have them sit in on 4-5 webinars without a guest, so that they can learn the content of your company presentation, then have them present to you. If you do hotel meetings, have them start to show their skills by doing the introduction, or by giving a testimonial, and then have them help you with a portion of the presentation. This will build their confidence, and show others they are coach able, and a leader.  Ask people to start to do training presentations on tidbits they have learned, this will do two things, it will reinforce the learning for the new team mate, but also show the rest of the team that X person is becoming a leader, and it will encourage others to step up!

Tip #4 – Plug In To Your Meetings

You have probably heard this from your upline, but it is important for you to be seen within your company.  I am sure you know the number one income earner in your company, their name, at least some stats about them, and a bit about their story. It is vital that you stay plugged in to meetings as a leader, so your local community or online team, sees you as the leader, and want to emulate what you are teaching. Plugging in can mean attending hotel meetings, online webinars, teleconference, or three way calls. Whatever form of meetings your company offers it is vital to plug in. There is nothing more embarrassing than having a new recruit ask you about xyz call, or meeting, and having to say, “gee, I don’t know what happened cause I wasn’t there”.

Tip #5 – Rinse and Repeat

What on earth does Rinse and Repeat have to do with leadership?  The answer…. a lot! Let me explain. When you have mastered one area of your business I am sure you will agree there is a new and exciting adventure waiting for you to master. Maybe you are  a master and leading at the invite, but thus far, you are not ready to do the public speaking, and presenting… so you sit at the sidelines, showing your prospect someone else leading… and not stepping up to be the leader. So now its time to move to step 2, 3, 4, or 5… I promise that no matter how good of a leader you become, there will always be a new step to take, process to master, or skill to learn, so therefore I call that rinse and repeat!

When you truly want to become the leader that you would want to follow it is vital that you honestly think about the leader that you would be attracted to…. what would that person do to help you? what would that person show you? How would that person act? once you identify the answers to those questions your goal is to implement tips 1-5 and work on becoming the answer to your own questions. Then you will truly be a leader, that you would want to follow, and I promise others will want to follow you too.

As always I would love your feedback… did this post make sense to you? What changes will you make in your leadership as a result of reading this? Share this with your team today, (hint – that would fall under Tip #3).

To Your Success,

Amanda Evans
