Leading By Example – Even if Today you are a Team of 1!

Leading by exampleI recently was pondering if I was leading by example? I have been immersed in training for over a year, and I have spent $10,000+ in educating myself!

I have been learning from anyone that I have found interesting, and offering value in the marketplace I am looking for direction in.

I was speaking with someone in the home business niche, and in dawned on me… I knew WAY more than they did about Online Marketing. I knew more about pretty much anything to do with online… you see I have often wondered if I had learned enough to really offer anything of value to anyone, including you!

I have decided that YES I know a lot, and I have a lot of value to share with you! I have started creating more videos, and as I have done this, I have become more and more comfortable making videos! As you DO something, or implement what you have learned you definitely become much more comfortable doing it!

Leading by Example means you start doing all the right things even if right now you are only leading yourself! Even without your knowledge people will see you as a leader, and want to emulate what you are doing! They will start to want to be just like you!

This thought reminded me of a story I heard many years ago –

Ever since I was a little kid, I didn’t want to be me. I wanted to be like Billy Widdledon, and Bill Widdledon didn’t even like me. I walked like he walked; I talked like he talked; and I signed up for the high school he signed up for.

Then Billy Widdledon began to hang around Herby Vandeman; he walked like Herby Vandeman; he talked like Herby Vandeman. He mixed me up! I began to walk and talk like Billy Widdledon walking and talking like Herby Vandeman. And then it dawned on me that Herby Vandeman walked and talked like Joey Haverlin. And Joey Haverlin walked and talked like Corky Sabinson.

So here I am walking and talking like Billy Widdledon’s imitation of Herby Vandeman’s version of Joey Haverlin trying to walk and talk like Corky Sabinson. And who do you think Corky Sabinson is always walking and talking like? Of all people, Dopey Wellington – that little pest who walks and talks like me!

So Just How does one lead by example?

I believe to lead by example you need to show you are a leader by continually investing in you!! You are the catalyst… do you need to know it all? Certainly not, anyone who tells you they know it ALL is crazy! There is always room for self improvement and learning! No matter how much I know I always strive to learn more!

I believe continuing to improve on yourself is vital to keep yourself one step above average! You didn’t wake up today saying gee I sure wish I could do just enough to be average and mediocre! Of Course not!

Defining Success in Home Based Business for Women

Many times to reach our goals as women in home based business the natural idea is to compare ourselves to others. This is  surefire way to feel inferior, under qualified and potentially persuade us to quit on our dreams!

As a home based business mom, I realize and understand your day to day challenges. There will be days when you wonder why you bother, there will be days when your kids are screaming and running, and you cannot get anything you had planned to do done! There will be days when everything is nearly magical, and you are so excited about the future you want to retire your husband RIGHT NOW! There will also be days when you wonder why on earth you would ever want to retire your husband and you eagerly send him back to work.

Home Based Business is a Roller Coaster Ride!

As a woman in general in one single day our emotions can be all over the place. Add to it the stress or work of a home based business, and it can seem pretty overwhelming. I am going to share with you some of the best way to define your life so that you can position yourself for ultimate success in your home based business!

Define each of the following points and write them down, and post them where you can see them daily! They will help you stay motivated when you  lack the internal drive to pick up the phone, or make a connection with someone.

Define – Who You Are – What makes you tick? What makes you, YOU? What makes you special and unique in the marketplace?

Define –  What You Are After – Are you wanting to retire your husband? Do you want to travel the world? Is there a special school you want to send your children to?

Define – Why are you going for it? What is the big payoff? What is the reason you MUST do this? You need something so huge that you would never quit on yourself!

Define – Why its important? If you did not reach your goals in your home based business, what would happen? If nothing happens then your why is NOT big enough! Something that you do NOT want to happen must be imminent if you do not push forward to reach your goals. You see your reason to succeed must be HUGE to push you through those bad days, because if you have not had any yet, (consider yourself blessed)  and know that their will come a day when you are frustrated, exhausted, or feeling like a failure, and you need this why to push you through.

and lastly

Define –  What’s going to happen when you reach your goals!

Every single one of us is programmed for success, you just need to keep reaching for the goals you have set for yourself!

It is a business model that is based completely on relationship marketing, and the belief that people will buy from those that know, like and trust. Most Network Marketing Guru’s will tell you this cannot be done online. Today I want to share with you some online network marketing strategies that work, and work well!

Just because they are your Upline, doesn’t mean they know it all.

These online network marketing strategies will work for you too!, All you have to do is be willing to learn. Back a few years ago, I remember being in a convention for my network marketing company and the speaker was talking about websites, and how getting leads from your website was a complete waste of time, it did not work, and he has built his entire business prospecting people at gas stations, Wal Mart, and shopping malls. He has built a large organization, and was well respected. Yet those of us using the internet sites, and having success kept plugging along and kept going, and continued to see success.

What Are the Best Social Platforms for Online Network Marketing?

As time has moved on the “new” way of online network marketing has evolved onto social platforms. It often is a world that your upline does not have any idea about. Heck your upline may not even have a Facebook, or Twitter account, and they have no idea what Pinterest is! It is frustrating to me when these leaders shun something they have no idea about, and no way to know if it is beneficial to them or not. They form an opinion based on what they think they know about Social Media and many will tell you, that you cannot build a successful network marketing business online!

You don’t believe that do you? Of course you don’t, because you are here, looking for the magic online network marketing strategies that work! There are 3 forms of social media that you should use (but use properly) to launch your network marketing business in an online environment. The big 3 would be Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

So many people think that social media is some place young people waste time,  moms spend time instead of focusing on household tasks, and dads space out after work while hanging on social media! While some people may do this, the kind of people you are looking for as a professional network marketer are motivated, entrepreneurs who are looking for a way out, a way to change their future!

They are the very same people that you have identified with your upline as your perfect business partner… yet you have not had any luck finding them at the local Wal Mart!  Social Media is awesome, because it allows you to see your prospect before you even bother to talk to them, you can see where they work, what kind of ethics they have, and learn a lot about a person via social media!

How Do I Attract the Perfect Person To My Business?

So if you want to attract the right audience to your business, the absolute perfect person… what if you were to use those qualities as a search within Facebook to find those that may be interested in what you have, want more from life, or whatever search word fits for your ideal prospect. Within the Big 3 Social Media options, you can search people that possess or want to possess the skills, or personality traits you are looking for! How cool is that…. imagine walking through your local mall, and above each person walking by was a little billboard sharing a 30 second commercial about them, what makes them tick, and THEN you got to decide if you prospected them for your business or not! That would be fun wouldn’t it?

Well Social Media is just like that! It allows us to make friends with people all over the world, and share with them who we are, and we can learn more about them!

People tend to go off the rails a bit when it comes to Social Media because they want to talk about their network marketing program, because they are certain it will help this person with whatever ails them, or they need this services, or whatever it is you offer.Please do not do this! You will not make friends quickly on Social Media with that strategy!  Social Media is a place for you to get to know people, imagine you are meeting them for the first time at a social gathering, you certainly would not give verbal diarrhea all over them about you, your company, and how you can make them the next top earner in XYZ. You would take your time, get to know them, who they are what makes them tick, and this is precisely how you need to approach social media and ‘making friends’ online.

I like to search for people that possess a certain quality. One week you can target say teachers, the next week target stay home moms, whatever it is, make 30-50 new friends on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest and you will have 90-150 new friends! These people can be anywhere in the world even. Genuinely care about them, who they are, and how you may be able to help them get what they want.

When you show people how much you care you show people that you are willing and able to help them. I am by no means the smartest person out there, but I do resource the information I need to help me.

In the world today so many people are looking for options. They are looking for more. One of the best ways to get out of the corporate rat race and into a lifestyle that offers more freedom, and flexibility is to start a network marketing business. In fact today, more people are starting network marketing businesses than ever before. Which in itself is fantastic! However, very few people are able to mentor their team to success, which may be the exact reason you are here today!

What Your Enroller Didn’t Tell You.

As Network Marketing is exploding, very few Network Marketing companies are keeping up with technology, in fact most are still recommending that you make a list of all the people you know, and then call them to see if they may want whatever opportunity or product you have set up with. Which is not all bad, there are just better ways to find people to talk to that are actually interested in your business, or your product, or service. The reason most Enrollers are not sharing with their teams how to get online, and find masses of people interested in what you have is, they don’t know either!

I Knew There Had To Be a Better Way

I was one of those people who made the list, burned through all the people I knew and tried to maintain my dignity and relationship with my friends, as I hoped to embark on a business adventure. The fact is many of my friends were happy working for someone else. They were not interested in any changes to their current situation, and honestly many of them just didn’t have the desire to make more of themselves than they already had.

I knew there had to be a better way, a way to tap into the perfect person for my business. Which got me thinking, who is the perfect person for my business? So many people in any Network Marketing company will say, well everyone needs my product or service, and while anyone may be able to utilize it you will do much better if you find a focus. Find a group that needs, wants and purchases your type of products already!

The Network Marketers Home Run!

You have hit a home run when you narrow down your niche, and find our where your ideal prospect hangs out. For example, if you are marketing an anti-aging product your ideal candidate is going to most likely be people in the 40-60 age range, and those that are looking to head into retirement, and therefore may also be interested in your Network Marketing company as more than just a customer.

The secret to success in Network Marketing is to have an endless supply of your ideal prospect coming to you, and you are offering them value! Something that they want for FREE! It may have nothing to do with your network marketing company, but you need to offer them something of value, a way for them to connect with you, and to get to know you. As even when you are online network marketing is about Relationship Marketing!

Finding your Network Marketing Niche on Facebook!

You have to find the way to offer value to your niche, give them value, and let them get to know you. Facebook is the perfect platform for this because it is free for you, and your niche. I don’t recommend that you set up a company specific fan page. So many people out there these days seem to be making X Network Marketing Company by “insert your name here”.

There are several reasons why I don’t have my Facebook Page set up this way, and I would not recommend you do either. Here are just a few. Maybe you start with one company and then find out about something else that you think would be better suited to your personality, or your interests. If you have spent the last 6 months building up a Facebook Fanpage for Blank Network Marketing by “your name” you can’t just change your company focus you have to start OVER!

That is not a fun position to be in. The other reason maybe even bigger than the first is that people see your network marketing name right from the start, and it may deter people from even trying to connect with you at all. Its pretty much the same as if you ran up to everyone you saw anywhere and said, “hi, my name is blank network marketing company by ‘your name’. It’s certainly not how you would talk and its not how you should present yourself on Facebook. You want to let people come to your page, and get to know you the person before they need to know about your company.

The other reason you don’t want to brand yourself after your company name is that many rookie Facebook marketers are already doing this, and they follow other reps of their same company to see what they are doing, they may try and ‘scoop’ your prospects… wheras if they don’t know what your primary company is by your fan page, most of your fellow reps for your company will never find you on Facebook, which is just fine, because your target market is not ‘other reps’ in your same business anyway!

Take a Moment to Consider Your Ideal Prospect?

If you could work with anyone that would love your network marketing companies products, would be someone looking for a change in their life, and looking for the great opportunity that network marketing provides, who would your ideal market be? Maybe it would be people from your profession, if you are a doctor, other doctors maybe interesting your Network Marketing company, but you will also have enough knowledge and skill from being a doctor, that you can provide value to other doctors so that they want to engage with you on Facebook, and be part of your page. Maybe you are a teacher, and you have all kinds of stories about school, or life of a teacher, that other teachers would love to interact with you on your Facebook page, and they would also be the ideal person to join you in your network marketing business.

Is Network Marketing, or Direct Sales Hard?

Today I was thinking about all the people who complain about Network Marketing and Direct Sales being hard… during my life I have had to do many things that I would consider HARD! Network Marketing and Direct Sales would not be one of them. I decided rather than typing out my whole thoughts I would make a quick video. Watch the video now.

The following article is an excerpt from a speech given by a direct seller at a local meeting. We are told she was asked to speak on how direct sales compares to working a “regular” job. It was submitted to us, and although the original author is unknown, we wish to thank her for her thoughts and insights.

Lately, I have heard so many people say how difficult direct sales is. “Its hard.” “I can’t get bookings.” “This just isn’t for me.” “I didn’t know how difficult it would be.”

Well, I am a single mom of three who, before joining the direct sales family, held down two jobs. I would get up at 4:00 in the morning and not get to bed until midnight most nights, after returning from my part-time retail job, packing lunches, checking homework and relieving my mother, who helped out with the kids.

That, my friends, is difficult. It is difficult always having to lower your dreams to meet your means. It is difficult to miss your son’s football game because you have to work. It is difficult knowing the rust bucket you call a car is eating you alive in maintenance, but you can’t afford a new one. It is difficult to realize that someone else is going to watch your daughter take her first step or have your son say mama to the preschool teacher. It is difficult knowing that you have spent 40 years of your life working for someone else, only to realize that you will be retiring on one-third of what you can live on today. Or, worse yet, it is difficult knowing that you have diligently worked all your life, only to be given an early retirement and replaced by someone younger, more capable.

I will tell you what is difficult. It is difficult waking up one morning and realizing that your children, the most precious things imaginable, no longer need bottles, diapers, have tea parties, or are shorter than the baseball bat they are trying to swing. It is difficult realizing it is too late and that the time frittered away can never be retrieved. It slips through our fingers one second at a time. It is also difficult watching the spark in your partner’s eyes fade because both of you realize the house you have been wanting is just a dream because someone else is controlling your finances.

We have nasty habits about rationalizing, procrastination and skirting important things, rather than facing the issues. Too often we allow others who do not pay our bills, who do not share our dreams, to direct our futures. As children we have absolutely no freedom; we rebel in our teens and scream for freedom. We reach adulthood and are finally free, only to relinquish that freedom because we think it is too difficult. We do not want to take responsibility. We do not want to make a wrong decision, so we obligingly give that awesome power to someone else. We wake up too late. We hear ourselves uttering phrases like: “I wish I had only . .” and “If I could do it over again.” You have no one but yourself to blame. You had the chance. Perhaps the opportunity was presented many times and each time you elevated the trivial to a higher priority than yourself. Let me ask you: Is direct sales really difficult?

Is it so traumatic to show someone an exciting product or idea? Is it so difficult to understand that if you work this marketing idea for three to five years, you just might finally be able to send your children to a college chosen by excellence, rather than one chosen by price? That you could finally put your family in the home of their dreams?

Would you work really hard for eight to ten years, so you could mold a lifestyle of your choosing, so your family could live a lifestyle of their dreams, rather than trying to live how someone else thinks you should live? How difficult is it to pick up the phone and call your hostess? How difficult is it to pack up your kit and meet some new friends?

How difficult is it, really, to share what you love with others? Think about it. Realize the awesome power you have in your hands with direct sales. There are people out there working three jobs. There are people drowning in debt; or agonizing through bankruptcy, realizing they only needed a couple hundred more dollars per month. That is difficult!

This business you have chosen has the ability to change lives. Direct sales cannot do anything. But YOU can change lives with it. You are the one with the life-changing ability. What are you waiting for?

There is difficulty and pain in success, and there is difficulty and pain in failure. Difficulty and pain in success will last a short period of time; but pain in failure lasts a lifetime. Which one is really more difficult? You will pay a price for your actions, and your choices. Which choice will you make?

“Why Do Most Network Marketers Fail?”

Network marketing is Simple, but doing the old way (i.e.
cold calling people) is NOT easy.

Don’t kid yourself!

Let me explain my view of why network marketing is notorious
for having a 95% or higher failure rate..

Have you ever heard of Occam’s razor?

It states that the simplest explanation for a phenomenon is usually the best. We’ll use this theory to explain why more than 95% or more network marketers fail.

Ready?

Most network marketers fail because the marketing methods that they are taught don’t work 95% or more of the time.

So we’re led to ask the next logical question, what are most fledgling network marketers taught?

Well, I can only speak from my experience, but what I was taught was to buy and cold call leads.

Now, I’m not going to say this doesn’t work, but I will say is that after six months of cold calling leads for 3 hours a day with very little success this tactic doesn’t work for me.
Honestly, unless you’re natural born confident sales leader going into your network marketing career you’ll probably have these same results. Don’t get me wrong some people are very good at cold calling leads, but most people aren’t.

What happens to most people after they’ve spend thousands of dollars on leads with very little success after months of effort?

They run out of money. They get burned out and then . . .

They give up.

Another important factor contributing to why most network marketers fail is the type of leads they buy.

Why does the type of leads network marketers use make a difference?

Well . . .

Business opportunity leads, the leads most new network marketers are told to use, are generic. These leads answer an ad that just asks them if they want to be financially free or make money from home or something like that.

Well . . . of course they do!

But that doesn’t mean they want anything to do with YOUR network marketing program.

When the average network marketer calls these generic business opportunity leads the leads don’t know anything about the network marketer’s business and for the most part honestly don’t care.

This leads to the fledgling network marketer hearing a lot of “NOs”.

Hearing NO all the time leads to quite a bit of self doubt, both about the network marketer’s own ability and the validity of their association with their network marketing company.

Negative feelings begin to harbor and as I said before eventually the network marketer gives up, usually within 3-6 months.The fledgling network marketer’s perception of their business goes from one of opportunity to one of complete doubt and negativity.

Reality follows perception, so because the fledgling network marketer believes both themselves and their business as having little hope this becomes TRUE.

That’s basically why 95% of network marketers fail if you asked me.
